Experience

I am a life-long student of this ancient teaching having discovered and begun practicing this philosophy at the age of 12. To me, Yoga is not only asana (postures) – it is a full system and way of navigating the world which encompasses the essence of sanatana dharma – essentially aiming to govern one’s entire being according to core values of compassion, non-violence, courage, integrity, honesty, and via the practices of mindfulness (non-judgemental, open, awareness), meditation, satsang (true, unconditional love, and connection within humanity), and physical embodiment.

I became certified to be a teacher (at the 200-hour level) in 2016 after years of my own personal practice, completing my training at a studio called, “Infinity” in Atlanta, Georgia. I have been practicing a kundalini (life energy channeling) practice (called, kriya) since 2006, via Self-Realization Fellowship’s (SRF) located in Los Angeles, California. I additionally completed an intensive, 500-hour, 12-month course, and will always continue to study for my own understanding, practice, and growth, following the Ashtanga (8-limb path), Gitananda Yoga tradition based in Pondicherry, India; the International Centre for Yoga Education and Research (ICYER), Ananda Ashram.

It is incredible to see how so many of the present-day, psychological interventions that have become popularized in recent years, are rooted in Yogic and Eastern-contemplative philosophies (i.e., mindfulness, somatic therapy, visualization practice, to name a few).

I strive to incorporate these into my psychotherapy sessions with clients only when deemed empirically-validated and appropriate; as with any intervention I implement, I am committed to using those strategies that are supported by the scientific literature while also remaining receptive to the needs of the individuals I am working with.

Other passions

In addition to the above I get a lot of pleasure out of fitness; I’m a long-distance runner, and regularly do aerobics, bike, and swim.

Little facts about me: I took vocals, dance and acting lessons, was a part of several small shows for years, and used to sing in a folk band as well as a Kirtan (spiritual chanting) group, both of which performed at different venues around Montréal, Quebec and Atlanta, Georgia.

I really like writing poetry, painting, interior, and graphic-types of design too and play around with these a lot in my spare time.

I additionally love to tinker on the guitar and piano.

I adore travelling, spending quality time with friends, loving family, and my many plant pets!
